In partnership with the Independence Police Department, area business districts, block watch groups, and other community entities, the NWCDC has obtained two Weed and Seed grants.
Weed and Seed is a federal program that seeks to curb crime in a community by “weeding out” offenders and by “seeding in” community building services.
As a community development corporation, the NWCDC is a major asset in the development of the quality of life in western Independence. Several of our board members were active in school boundary change that took place from 2007-2008.
The NWCDC has been a good partner with the Maywood and Englewood business district.
